Future project: Project Meir, Antwerpen

Project Meir will be an iconic urban landmark along the busiest shopping and walking route in the heart of Antwerp. By the fall of 2026, the construction site will become a campus of the Karel de Grote Hogeschool, with a department store attached. With the project, KdG and Meir Corner are focusing on sustainability and mobility. The design is a subtle nod to the large ‘magasins’ of yesteryear, but translated into a hybrid concept that fits the city of the future. The existing buildings are being transformed into a dynamic public site, where new retail concepts and especially the connection with the neighborhood are central.

The shopping city of tomorrow requires complementary and attractive concepts with international allure. The future of retail lies in the synergy between a powerful e-commerce platform and a physical flagship store, located in cities with strong tourist appeal and excellent multimodal accessibility.

In addition, the new campus of the Karel de Grote Hogeschool will have a prominent place in the former Proximus building, located on the Meir, Jezusstraat, Cellebroedersstraat and Lange Nieuwstraat, right in the middle of the bustling heart of Antwerp.

Winlock is contributing to this beautiful project and will install thirteen fire resistant doors with a fire resistance of 120 minutes (EI1 120) and anti-panic lock.

Thank you, Wycor and Meir Corner!
