Verkor, a pioneer in electric battery technology, has chosen the strategic site of Dunkirk Port in Fance for its first Gigafactory. This milestone marks a decisive step towards producing low-carbon battery cells that are crucial for supporting Europe’s carbon-neutral goals.
The Gigafactory’s massive facility will have an annual capacity of 16 GWh in lithium-ion cells, enough to equip 300,000 electric vehicles. In addition to meeting Europe’s growing demand for electric mobility and stationary storage batteries, the Gigafactory will create over 1,200 jobs.
Verkor’s Gigafactory will stand out as one of the world’s most advanced and efficient facilities, due to its unprecedented data architecture and industrial digitalization. In the initial phase, Winlock will be responsible for installing 35 fire resistant sectional shutters with fire resistance ratings of 60 minutes (EI 60), 120 minutes (EI2 120), and 240 minutes (EI2 240). Each fire resistant sectional shutter will include Winlock’s additional Out-Lock application to ensure optimal safety.
Thank you Alheembouw and Verkor!
